MMA to New York

I found this Photoshop on the web which
expresses my own feelings about legalizing MMA events

Actually, MMA does exist in New York it just hasn't been sanctioned yet and there is a group called the Underground Combat League in which I must still a quote from fight club and say, "We do not TALK about fight Club."
Now, I don't know much about this Underground Combat league, but someone could get seriously hurt there without a trained referee. For this reasons alone the sport needs to be sanctioned, because when it is sanctioned it is fairly safe especially compared to Professional Wrestling and even US Football has more injuries. Heck, Fishing in a boat has more fatalities than MMA annually. So, its time stop the whimsical nonsense that MMA is bad!
All the sport is doing is weaving many fighting sports together which they all happened to be sanctioned and legal and so should MMA around the world.

Bisping vs Rivera

So, if you haven't been paying attention to the UFC 127 Penn vs Fitch, then you probably don't realize that Rivera has been constantly teasing and poking fun of Bisping. Just look at this video all the way through.

Is Bisping getting a dose of his own medicine after he teased Hendo? A little, but, I seriously doubt that he cares as much as he might seem (like at the UFC 127 fight conference where he was steaming). Let me explain my logic deeper, see, Bisping will look for reasons (no matter what) to get angry at an opponent, and there is no better way to sell a fight.  So yes, Bisping is really angry and yes the stunt draws attention and ratings but that is what Bisping wants, this is what Rivera wants, that is what the fans and Dana want and both should put on a great show. Ahhh, its really a blessing and a great way for the fans to get excited about a fight.

Why is Tito still in the UFC? Because the fans hate him and people will watch to see him get beat up. I don't predict Rivera to win this, but he might need a way to stay relevant at age 38 as of this writing. If he does win, his hands have to connect, which isn't impossible, but Bisping is a polished MMA-boxer and can still deliver decent shots (unless your name is Dan Henderson).

Oh well, goooood luck to both gentlemen!

Dan Hardy said Greg Jackson's fighters are boring

A funny gif of what happened to Dan Hardy when he faced Carlos Condit

Before UFC 120, Dan Hardy said that Greg Jackson fighters were boring and ran his mouth over and over again. To his surprise, Condit (a Greg Jackson fighter) KO'ed Hardy before a live event in London England.

Now, not to hit too hard on Hardy, as he was trying to sell the fight, but, you have to back up your smack talk  and make the fight go longer than what we saw. I am still a fan of Hardy, but tighten up your hands and try not to take as many shots that you have in the past.

If you look at both fighters records at the UFC, Hardy takes more shots than Condit and I think this stems from his cockiness and believing he can absorb any shot.

Good luck to both fighters!

Penn vs Fitch UFC 127

BJ Penn will be facing Jon Fitch at UFC 127, and talk about fighters who are complete opposites. Fitch likes to take people down and try to pound them out or submit them while BJ Penn usually will stand with his opponent. Penn usually finishes his fights while Fitch will usually ends up grinding out a win. Penn is extremely hard to take down while Fitch has taken down many opponents much to their dismay.

For either one to win they must be better than the other at their strengths and not try to get better at the others strengths I believe. Penn must keep it standing and pound Fitch out not try to take Fitch down and risk himself being taken down. Fitch must take BJ Penn down and grind out a victory, cause I don't see him knocking Penn out or outclassing him with kick boxing but maybe he could use some clench work and put Penn against the fence like others have and neutralize his abilities.

So, who can administer their game plan the best should be able to pull this one off. Who will do this?
I am going with Penn, even though Fitch has made many fighters look silly, I believe that Penn's training with Matt Hughes will be enough and along with his entire skill set.

May the best fighter win!

The Decline of Fedor and Arlovski

I made this picture before the Strikeforce grand Prix began, thinking it would be a joke if BigFoot Silva submitted Fedor Emelianenko or dominated him.

Well, after the aftermath of the main event, the image became true right before my eyes, and BigFoot Silva dominated Fedor and nearly submitted him twice. At the end of the second round the doctor called a stoppage to the battle, as Fedor's eye looked almost wielded shut.

Andrei Arlovski may have suffered a worse fate, losing now four times in a row, and now to Sergei Kharitonov in 2:49 of the first round. I believe Andrei Arlovski does not have a jaw to withstand these types of hits anymore.

With this news, I believe its time for these 2 greats to hang up the MMA gloves and support MMA in other ways. Maybe they could both do movies or maybe do a movie together.

GSP vs Anderson "The Spider" Silva

Lets say GSP defeats Shields like he has done to so many opponents and then has to face off against Anderson Silva... What would be the outcome of this fight?? No doubt, both fighters are skilled beyond belief. Both fighters have made other great fighters look silly. GSP made Koshcheck look like an amateur boxer while Anderson Silva finished Vitor Belfort with but a single leg kick.

To say one would ultimately know the outcome might be foolish. GSP has some great wrestling that is tailored for MMA which means he will be able to take Silva down but I do perceive Silva getting back up as he is always training with Machida. Anderson Silva is the more unpredictable fighter but GSP keeps it more tight but if Anderson Silva can throw him off and land punches or kicks it should be over.

I foresee, for GSP to win this, he will have to cruise to a decision (unless he gets that one lucky hit) as he is not known for KO power as other fighters are and Silva has a rock-hard chin and mentally tough as well. GSP could win by playing it safe, using his speed to keep away from Anderson Silva's range and his wrestling to try and put Silva on his back in case Silva starts to connect.

For Silva to win, he has to connect I believe! Though, Silva could win a decision by hurting GSP and weakening him, I think GSP has the right MMA tools to better win the decision. If Silva even connects with one hit it can mean big trouble especially since his attack can come from all angles, and he would elect to go for the finish I believe (Though in some fights he chose to play it safe until the end).

My early prediction is that Anderson Silva would win by TKO in the third round although I could see GSP winning a decision. Remember, if I am wrong, I gave the outcome how I believe GSP could win and it is a clear possibility! It should be a great fight of different styles.

I admire Shields, but, I hope GSP does beat him so we can see this super fight, as Anderson is stated by Dana to fight him next.

UFC 126 Post fight review

Well, UFC 126 ended on Saturday 02-05-11 and with a bang, with a straight kick that flattened out Vitor Belfort in the first round, compliments of Anderson Silva who learned the move from Steven Seagal. During the weigh ins, Silva put on a white mask to stare down Vitor with and that is why I dub him the Phantom of the UFC. I thought Vitor would win because Anderson had to be weakening from his other fights.... Wrong..WRONG WRONG... AND MORE WRONG. The Spider looked better than ever but will he be able to stop GSP, or Shields, if Shields beats GSP??? Probably so....

The fight before the main event was Griffin vs Franklin which I got right exactly, and ended up Griffin overpowering Franklin and Griffin winning the Unanimous Decision.

Next, we have Johnny Jones Bones vs Ryan Bader, and of course I predicted that it wound end in a TKO first round victory for Jones. Nevertheless, Bones won a by Guillotine Choke and then was offered a gift.... Bones will be facing off against Sho Gun Rua, since, Rashad has now been injured.

Rashad must be kicking himself to be seeing his own teammate get a chance at the belt, but, Rashad should have tried to at least fight someone else while Sho Gun was injured (at least to pay the bills if for any thing).
